Roxby Downs Council engaged GDstudia and GREENHILL in early 2021 to upgrade the current Sport & Recreational HUB and surrounding areas. GDstudia understood the significance of local sports to rural communities and the effect it has on the local economy. The design focused on brand new competition-level multi courts for tennis and netball. The recreational HUB provided a new path network, 2 new AFL standard changerooms, Junior Football and soccer fields, and sport lighting. The design provided substantial built and passive shade (which is vital to the local weather conditions), and additional seating around the new multi-courts. The entry promenade provided skate-friendly furniture leading into the existing skate park and ensures that all ages and sports are catered for.
