Keswick Creek Pathway Feasibility & Concept Masterplan
- Public Realm
- Streetscapes
- Urban Development
Working with the City of West Torrens, GDstudia created a benchmark concept design for this underutilised section of land adjacent the Keswick Creek. A shared use path creates a seamless connection, with resting points and nodes located along the length, creating points of interest through public art, planting and furniture.
Conceptually, the design of the shared use path is to represent the landscape typology that existed prior to the installation of the concrete channel. A landscape where the water flowed freely and quenched the soil and native fauna, where eddies would form, when islands were created as logs and boulders built up debris, and where an abundant amount of wildlife would live and thrive along the waters edge. This landscape is what we have tried to reinterpret in the paving pattern that ripples as it meets the islands, where the islands tell the story of the site – these islands are our feature nodes that are placed along the shared use path and their role is to represent the coming together of different cultures, each circle will represent a different cultural timeline, each will tell a different story and celebrate the interwoven connections of the past and celebrate it.
